Play Rules
Spike serves allowed.
Libero allowed.
Substitutions are allowed: 1 for 1.
* No maximum serve restrictions.
We reserve the right to re-instate this rule at a later date to the lower tiers if required.
We are currently using the 1 toss/8 second rule for serves.
Regular OVA rules will apply.

How Play and Tiering Works
There are 7 tiers each consisting of 4 teams.
After you have played all the teams in your tier the previous 3 weeks' results will be tabulated and teams will be ranked 1 through 4 within the tier.
The top team will move up a tier and the bottom will move down.
There will be a realignment and change of schedule every 3 weeks.
Please ensure that you have 2 email contacts to share this information with your team.
It will also be posted on the website.
* Each week of play will consist of 1 match: 3 games from 0-25, 27 point cap.
If there are less than 20 minutes left to play at the start of the 3rd game then the game will be played from 0-21, 21 pt cap.
* Matches are 1 hour long plus a 5 minute warm-up time.
Start times are 6:35, 7:40, 8:45. 1 X 30 second timeout per game per team.
The league will start in September and consist of 26 weeks of tiered play followed by 2 weeks of playoffs.
Please see details under dates.

Disputes
All OVA rules apply including misconducts and carding.
If a yellow card is presented, the player will be fined $25.
This fine must be paid before the player can play the following game.
If a red card is presented, the player will be permanently disqualified from any further play in the league.
Any disputes can be appealed in writing and will be reviewed by the referee and OuttaHand.

Playoffs
Will take place April and May.
Within each tier, team finishing 1st will play 4th and 2nd will play 3rd. Same format as during pool play.
The winners of each match will play the following week – best of 3 match, 25 point games no cap.
The teams will be ranked 1-28. The first playdate and 1 of the worst ones will be deleted. An average of the rest of the rankings will determine your total ranking for the playoffs.
Prizes will be determined at a later date.

Weekly sponsorship prizes

Each week, the team with the best point ratio within the tier will be awarded a snack platter at our local sponsor the Goose and Firkin at York Mills & Leslie St. (1875 Leslie Street)
Please note that a minimum purchase applies to the application of the team card platters. Present your card to your server at the time you are seated to confirm it's validity.
A 8th platter will rotate through the tiers to the last placed team.

Uniforms

Are not mandatory, however if you wish to order team uniforms, there will be a discount offered for teams participating in the league.
